Hyderabad to the Future

Exterior Mural, 35’x25’

Suryapeth, Telangana

2024

A woman in Mohiniyattam attire steps through a glowing portal, her form anchored at the edge of the mural like a sentinel from another time. She is not still; her movement carries us forward, into a space shared by dancers whose gestures ripple across the composition. One gaze leads to another; a hand points toward a man charging a futuristic vehicle.
In this gesture, the mural bridges epochs; ritual movement meets electric motion. The visual journey culminates in the evolving skyline of Hyderabad, a city that holds within its contours both memory and momentum.
While the mural draws on classical dance forms from Kerala and Tamil Nadu, it is not bound to a single region. Instead, it reflects a broader desire to stay connected to cultural roots even as the world moves forward.
Mr Kalakar’s mural doesn’t offer a strict narrative. It invites viewers to sense the rhythm between tradition and change and to imagine a future powered not only by technology but also by memory, movement, and meaning
