Roots Of Resilience

This artwork is a tribute to Villupuram, a land where the rhythm of life flows in harmony with the earth. At its heart lies agriculture, the pulse of the region, sustained by the hands of women who lead with strength, care, and collective wisdom. Their movements symbolize not only empowerment but also the nurturing cycles of nature. Surrounding them, the diversity of birds becomes a metaphor for balance and coexistence, reminding us of the fragile yet enduring relationship between people and the environment. In the distance, the Gingee Fort stands tall, a timeless guardian of resilience, echoing the region’s history and its sustainable spirit. Together, these elements weave a story of interdependence, where tradition and ecology coexist, teaching us that sustainability is not just a practice but a way of life deeply rooted in community and care.

Roots Of Resilience
Experience: 10+
Bio:

Aravani Art Project fosters solidarity and visibility for trans and queer communities by transforming public spaces into platforms for collective expression, belonging, and resistance. At its core, the project is built on collaboration—transgender artists, community members, and allies work side by side, sharing stories, memories, and lived experiences. This collaborative process itself becomes a form of solidarity, where art-making is not just about creating images but about building trust, listening deeply, and nurturing relationships across social divides.
