The mural at Krishnagiri is an ode to the serene landscapes and lush greenery that surround the region. But this beauty exists alongside conflict between people and the ecology they inhabit. The artists engage with this tension by referencing Dr. Raman Sukumar, who has researched elephant migration and the ongoing human-wildlife conflict that shapes everyday life here.
Even amidst this friction, the region and its people continue to thrive with their ecology, not as something subservient, but as part of a circular relationship.
Known as the mango corridor of the south, solar roofs glimmer beside winding blue streams, farmers harvest under golden light, and technology, from drones to clean energy infrastructure, flows seamlessly into daily life. The artwork gestures toward a future where nature and innovation coexist.
Paper Plane Studio began in 2016, founded by Kartikey during a period marked by both creative beginnings and the return of his cancer. Kartikey first found art at 17 while recovering from cancer and a heart condition, later returning to it through graffiti after briefly pursuing engineering. Even through paralysis and avascular necrosis, the impulse to build something lasting remained.
What emerged was not just a studio, but a collective effort. Long hospital stays strengthened the resolve to create sustainable opportunities within the arts. Paper Plane Studio grew into a team that undertakes large-scale mural projects, offering steady work and shared purpose to fellow artists. Rooted in resilience and collaboration, the studio is driven by a simple vision: to make art a viable livelihood and to create pathways where young artists can continue choosing creativity without compromise.
